## The Departure of Frodo from The Fellowship
Heading 3: The Fellowship of the Ring and their Perilous Journey
The Lord of the Rings is known for its harrowing journey, which began with the formation of the Fellowship of the Ring. The fellowship consisted of Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Merry and Pippin, Gimli, Legolas, Boromir, Gandalf, and Aragorn, and was formed by Elrond, the Lord of Rivendell. Their main objective was to destroy the One Ring in Mount Doom, thus ending Sauron’s reign of terror.
The fellowship officially set out from Rivendell and faced various challenges along the way. They braved the weather of the Misty Mountains and made the fateful decision to go through the Mines of Moria, resulting in the loss of Gandalf as he battled the fearsome Balrog. They then stopped in Lothlorien before being forced to disband at Amon Hen.
Despite the fellowship splitting up, Frodo and Sam continued their mission to destroy the ring. They traversed the Dead Marshes, Shelob’s Lair, and ultimately reached Mordor. Frodo, however, succumbed to the ring’s influence, but Gollum’s attack led to the ring’s destruction.
One of the reasons the fellowship’s journey was perilous and led to their disbandment was the power of the One Ring. Created by Sauron, the ring held his essence and granted power to its wielder, including invisibility. However, it was ultimately corrupting and always served Sauron. Even beings like Gandalf and Aragorn did not attempt to wield it. The ring’s influence grew stronger as it approached its master, and it turned its wielder into an evil version of themselves.
The Fellowship of the Ring had to go their separate ways because Frodo realized the ring’s corrupting nature. He witnessed instances of its influence on Boromir, Gollum, and Bilbo Baggins. Boromir tried to take the ring from Frodo, likely due to its influence, and Frodo feared that his friends would become corrupted if they stayed together. Frodo decided to shoulder the burden alone, with Sam by his side. Aragorn understood this and supported their decision.
With the Hobbits having a stronger immunity to the ring’s influence, Frodo and Sam continued their journey while the rest of the fellowship engaged in wars across Middle Earth to keep Sauron occupied.
